On Thursday, the Great Wisdom News Agency learned from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission that starting from January 1, 2014, non-resident garbage disposal fees, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other sewage charges will be increased by more than ten times, and a step-by-step differentiated sewage charge policy will be implemented.

On the same day, the Great Wisdom News Agency learned from the Environmental Resources Committee of the National People's Congress that the substantial increase in sewage charges will not be limited to Beijing. According to documents obtained by the Great Wisdom News Agency from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Beijing's current sewage charges are less than 1 yuan per kilogram. After New Year's Day in 2014, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and chemical oxygen demand were uniformly adjusted to 10 yuan per kilogram, and ammonia nitrogen was adjusted to 12 yuan per kilogram.
